For our country, our military members make enormous sacrifices. It is an accomplishment in and of itself to return home safely, and we are grateful for their aid.
We may share such events with civilians to help them understand the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform.
Brent was overjoyed to see his family once more. His family, understandably, was as thrilled to see him as he was to see them. Brent had no clue that his biggest fan would be the one to welcome him first.
Brent’s parents wanted to give him a hug first, but they knew that seeing this lovely lady would completely transform his welcome home. Brent’s parents coordinated with the airport to make the required preparations. Brent was pleased, to put it mildly.
Brent was fatigued and probably overwhelmed by his presence on American soil as he stepped off the plane and through the terminal with another soldier. His general disposition did not change until he had made some progress.
While his heart raced at the sight of his parents nearby, he was on his knees very instantly meeting someone extremely precious. She rushes over him, utterly oblivious to who he is, as if they haven’t seen each other in a long time, and it certainly seemed that way to his dog.
It just takes two sniffs for her to remember who she is. DAD! You’ve completed the task! While Brent’s parents were glad to look after his dog while he was away on duty, no one will ever be able to replace your “true human.” Brent’s little daughter stands up and wags her tail, indicating her desire for him.
In the softest small whimpers, she even adds, “It’s been a long time, Dad.” Thank God you’ve returned. Now swear to me that you’re not going anywhere!”
His embrace and his dog’s adoration are exactly why we’ll never get tired of reunions, will always love dogs!
