K-9 Prior to his cancer diagnosis, Officer Hunter, along with his partner Michael D’Aresta, and their coworkers, worked for ten years for the Middletown Police Department in Connecticut.

Also, they wanted him to know how much they adore him on his last day on Earth.

Hunter risked his life every day for the safety of the community while he served on the force. Following an unanticipated decline in his health, his loyal service to the police recently came to an end, which was devastating:

“K-9 Hunter has been experiencing symptoms for a few days, and tests revealed that the dog has a very severe form of liver cancer. They regrettably recommended that he be put to death,” Middletown K-9 supervisor Sgt. Doug Clark said online.

D’Aresta was not the only one who felt depressed as a result of the prognosis and had to make the difficult decision to put his buddy to sleep. When that sad day arrived, they were flanked by their fellow policemen outside the veterinary clinic, and D’Aresta was holding Hunter in his arms as they exchanged one final salute.

Since 2007, Officer D’Aresta and Hunter have worked as a remarkable team to provide the City of Middletown with excellent service, according to Clark. The situation is quite difficult for Mike and his family, as you could imagine.

K-9 Hunter’s legacy is now known by many more people across the country and the world, and that’s a legacy that won’t soon be forgotten. Middletown has a population of just under 50,000, but thanks to the heartfelt way the police department bid farewell to him, his legacy is now known by many more people there and around the world.
