As the animal rescue team arrived at the city pound in Romania, they were greeted by a stray dog who was desperately seeking rescue. The canine was in such a terrible state of malnourishment that if she remained in the pound, there was no chance she would survive. The team could see the desperation in her eyes and knew they had to act fast.
The living conditions in the pound were deplorable, with dogs crammed into dirty kennels and food always in short supply. This poor dog was already so weak that she couldn’t fight for food like the others. Her situation was dire, but the rescuers were determined to do whatever it took to save her.
Anna, a small dog, was severely underweight, weighing only 9 pounds, and showed signs of malnourishment. In addition to her visible ribcage, she suffered from several other health problems, including anemia, dehydration, significant muscle loss, low protein levels in her blood, and internal parasites that consumed the little food she had. Fleas covered her weak body, leading to constant itching and scratching. She also had otodectic mange, ear infections, scars on her ears, and an infected wound on her tail. The rescue group named her Anna and immediately took her to a vet, who administered fluids and amino acids before feeding her a bowl of kibbles, which she quickly ate. Afterward, Anna was placed in a foster home to recover.
As she regained her health, a glimmer of hope returned to her eyes and she became more affectionate and sociable. She discovered love for the first time and reciprocated it to everyone she encountered.
Eventually, a compassionate family from New York came across Anna’s tale and decided to welcome her into their household. Today, she is thriving and has found a permanent home with her new family. She spends her days playing with her furry companion, Dakota, and is guaranteed a lifetime of happiness.
